Economy: It Shapes Our Industry
It may be interesting to note that many people consider the Indian economy to be the sixth-largest economy in the world. There are many reasons as to why this growth is meant to be on the rise. Some of them are globalisation, a young population and less dependence.
The International Monetary Fund ranks India as 128th in considerations of GDP in purchasing power parity.
Although the Indian economy currently appears to be rising in the right direction, it has naturally slowed down (2017-2020) because of demonetisation, COVID-19 and other factors. Despite all of this, economic factors do shape our industries and one can see a rise in many fronts: automobile, healthcare and even design.
From the 1st century to the 17th century, the Indian economy was largely stabilised and considered one of the largest economies in the world, contributing 35-40% to the world economy. In 1750, the Mughal Empire had a strong industrial manufacturing sector, with India contributing around 25% of the world’s industrial output. It was considered the most significant manufacturing hub in international commerce. Things changed after the British Period when the economy came down to 4.2%. Despite the changes, the nature of our economy has been one that has largely adjusted itself to flux and moved towards growing our industries once again.
Our is a mixed economy. It is owned by private businessmen, industrialists, and entrepreneurs on one side and the other part is managed by the government. It is hugely dependent on service and agriculture.
The various industries that contribute to the growth of our nation are complex and interconnected. The agriculture sector contributes 14% of the total GDP of India while the industrial sector contributes 27% of the total GDP of India. Following this, the service sector contributes 59%. This has endless sub-sectors that include tech, construction, banking, healthcare and others.
While the various industries are growing in the light of present developments– one must note that the engineering sector and the health sector are key factors of growth in our nation. Both engineers, nurses and doctors are forever in demand. Agriculture needs are something that has almost always been stable and the demand for it never drops.
To be part of this in-demand, competitive and extremely relevant industry an individual needs to have a quality education that clarifies concepts, is industry-relevant and academically aware of the nature of these industries. A renowned institution is key to these needs.
