- The Anti Ragging Committee is formed under Section 26(1)(g) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. The committee was established to bring to the notice to all concerned that ragging is a criminal offence. In order to eliminate the scourge of ragging, many regulations have been framed to abstain students from harassing anyone. Severe penalties shall be applied to those found guilty
- This committee comes up with definite rules that are also displayed on the notice board for the students to follow. The committee members conduct meetings at regular intervals, carry out surprise visits at the hostels, as well as on and off-campus areas. There are conformed consequences that students will have to face if found guilty of ragging someone. All the consequences have been mentioned and displayed across various sections of the university like canteens, restrooms, hostels, classes, auditoriums, etc. Apart from that, various activities are hosted such as awareness skits and other programs to make students aware of how ragging can affect people
Objective
- Supervisory and Advisory Committee investigates the matter of planning action for building and preserving a ragging-free culture in the University.
- To ensure safety, regular safety checks are carried out in hostels, buses, canteens, classrooms, and other places
- Special mentorship programs are conducted as well where every student is provided with an individual mentor that helps them get acquainted with the campus and settle in. It is the mentor’s duty to instil life values and keep students away from any kind of negative influence
- The Anti-Ragging Committee designs strategies and action plans to curb any kind of ragging instances. Awareness campaigns are one way in which students are informed about the consequences of ragging
- The Women’s Cell looks after all the female students and conducts regular activities that help empower the female students
